Thanks to a generous donation from a GRASG member, we have been able to establish the Grand Rapids Chapter of the American Sewing Guild Scholarship Award.

The first recipient is current member Tammie Pontsler who is completing her MFA in Fashion at Savannah College of Art and Design. Congratulations, Tammmie!

Subsequent scholarships will be awarded to students at Kendall College of Art and Design for students in the Fashion Studies Program.

Criteria for the Scholarship include:

  •      Residence reflects the geographical area of Chapter membership (see map)
  •  Junior / Senior level student
  •  GPA > 3.0
  •  Demonstrated need

As with our seed donor, Chapter members (or others) may find themselves with Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) mandates for their IRAs. Others may simply want to support the concept behind the scholarship.  A donation to GRASG’s scholarship fund presents an opportunity to sustain sewing as an art and skill into future generations.
